What owners wrote

I tried to put my car in reverse after starting it one day to no avail. I placed a screw driver in the shift lock position as the owner's manual stated. I called the acura dealership and told them the problem. They didn't have a loaner car available and asked me to come in a day later. On my way to the dealership for my appointment the next day, I had complete brake failure while going 65 miles an hour on a tollway. The next 14 miles I tried to get the car to slow down.

My transmission failed at approximately 92,000 miles. This seems to be a common event for acura tl owners. The car slipped out of gear on the road and I was forced to coast the car off to the side of the road. Luckily, my transmission did not lock up as others have experienced, but the problem with these vehicles is more prevalent than the NHTSA may be aware. Just do a search at any of the various acura owners' websites and you will see instances of up to 5 replaced transmissions on individual cars.
