What owners wrote
Car engine had stopped in the middle of a busy highway. The fuel gauge showed that there was half a tank of gas left. In reality there was no fuel in the car. Car had to be towed at owners expense. Fuel sender unit had to be replaced at over $500. There was a recall for the same reason for the same problem for 2001 model, but not 2002 which has the same problem. Extreme danger to a safety of the driver. The car can run out of fuel with a fuel gauge showing that there is a half a tank of gas left.
This complaint is related to an audi recall #pe08008 issued in may, 2008 and relates to the failure of the a plastic nipple on the gas tank that fails due to stress. According to audi, my vehicle did not fall within the parameters of the recall per my VIN . According to your notice it covers my 2002 audi, but only for the 2.8, 2.7 and 3.0 engine on the quattro sedan and the 2.7 and 4.2 on the allroad. My audi is a quattro 4.2 sedan.
