2008 GMC Sierra 1500 latches & locks problems

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 GMC sierra 1500. The vehicle was parked with the engine running and the doors locked. Upon trying to enter the vehicle using a separate remote key the vehicle would not unlock. He had to enter the vehicle through the front drivers side door by manually unlocking the door. Once he entered the vehicle he smelled a slight melting odor. He compared the odor to the smell of burning wires. The vehicle was not examined by the dealer to determine the cause of failure.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 GM sierra 1500. The contact stated that the door locks became inoperable. The contact was not able to exit the vehicle as a result. The contact was able to exit the vehicle once a passenger opened the door from the exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the problem was a common and that they were working to find a remedy for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance.
