I have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee. This vehicle has a defective lift gate mechanism. Initially the defect prevented the lift gate from closing, now it won't open. In april 1993 the NHTSA identified a defect in the mechanism and issued a recall to correct this problem (93v055000 ). I contacted daimler-chrysler for assistance in correcting the proble. Daimler-chrysler indicated the vehicle is not covered by a safety recall for this problem.
