What owners wrote
Tl* takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 jeep wrangler 4-dr 4x4. The contact stated that the driver crashed into a pole while driving at an unknown speed. The air bags failed to deploy. The air bag warning light illuminated. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v290000 (air bags) and 16v352000 (air bags), but the parts were unavailable for the repair.
My air bag light came on (and continues to stay on for the past 2 days) while driving down the road recently. After checking with several sources, including chrysler's recall dept., I discovered that this is a common issue with jeep wranglers, but only a select few have been issued recall notices. This is apparently affecting a broader number of jeeps than chrysler has included in their initial recall (number l37).
