I was traveling on a neighborhood arterial road, when I heard a load thunk that seemed to come from beneath the rear seat. Moments later, I got a "Check electric vehicle system" warning, followed by "Stop vehicle and check power supply" in the dashboard. After another moment, the power was reduced to a maximum of 25 mph. I turned on the hazard lights because I was no longer able to match the flow of traffic (45 mph). No accident occurred. I was able to limp the car home on slower side streets.
