What owners wrote

The original fuel tank leaked gasoline. This was not caused by an accident or any other external force. The entire tank needed to be replaced. It seems to me that a tank this old should not rupture. I work with a fellow who owns a 1994 ford ranger (same truck) that also had to replace a bad tank. If I had not noticed the odor, this could have easily created a fire. Have there been any other reports of ruptures in fuel tanks for 1994 mazda or ford pickups?

The contact called both the dealer and the manufacturer and was told by both parties that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 94v111002 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileage was approximately 189,000.
