What is wrong

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain model year 2014 911 GT3 vehicles manufactured October 19, 2013, through January 16, 2014. In the affected vehicles, a piston connecting rod may come loose and damage the engine crankcase.

The risk

A damaged crankcase may allow engine oil to leak onto hot components in the engine bay which may result in a fire.

The fix

Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will install a new engine with improved piston connecting rod connections, free of charge. The recall began on June 6, 2014. Owners may contact Porsche at 1-[removed]. Porsche's number for this recall is AE01. Note: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the engine has been replaced.
