What owners wrote

On december 15, 2008 I parked my car outside of a shop in md and within 10 minutes of returning, I saw white, electrical smoke rising from under the hood. During this time the vehicle was off. As I walked to my vehicle several witnesses and the mall security had arrived and were ready with a fire extinguisher. I opened my hood and suddenly the entire engine burned in flames and almost burned several people including myself.

Reported at 44,800 miles, December 2008 FireInjury

Engine locked up and needs to be replaced. I was told there was no oil in the engine at all, which seems to be due to a design defect causing no excessive engine oil consumption. I was driving on the interstate and barely made it the shoulder when the car seized up and died. No low oil light ever came on. If someone was driving in heavier traffic, the car could shut off in an active driving lane.
