What owners wrote
On saturday, march 13, 2010 around 4:30 to 5:00pm, my wife [xxx] exited nw 5th court from I95 to nw [xxx] miami, florida. As she was approaching the stop sign on [xxx] , she commenced to press the brakes. To her demise, after pushing the brake pedal to stop, the vehicle, a 2007 toyota tundra crew cab did not stop, instead, automatically increased speed to over 20 MPH.
All four brakes were rendered almost inoperable due to corrosion of calipers, discs and mounts. Discovered when brake pedal required considerable effort to stop vehicle. Was told by maintenance manager at dealership that brakes could have failed at any time. Seems to be an engineering problem (steel components that rust) effecting low-usage vehicles.
