What owners wrote
A few complaints as filed, shortened and with personal details removed. The first ones are among the most serious reports for this model year; the rest are typical.
While leaving a stop sign at 10 MPH consumers vehicle was t-boned on the drivers side by a truck. Consumer suffered minor injuries, but was not hospitalized. Onsumer was wearing seat belts, side airbags did not deploy.
While sitting at a stop light vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing a three car collision. Consumer had foot on the brakes, and vehicle revved up to 60-70 MPH. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who told consumer that some kind of pin got stuck, causing the vehicle to accelerate to 1000 rpms. When consumer took vehicle to dealer for regular maintenance, and told the mechanic about certain problems/concerns. They put the vehicle on the diagnostic machine, but nothing was found to be wrong.
While driving consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Consumer was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and hit a curb. Drove vehicle to dealer for inspection, and mechanic could not be duplicate the problem.
I am writing to report a potentially serious safety issue with my 2000 acura rl. This car seems to have a design flaw whereby the car's natural drain channels get clogged and water leaks in through alternate pathways into the vehicle's fuse box. This causes all of the car's electrical systems to go haywire, key safety systems like the airbags and traction control shut off, windshield wipers go on by themselves, and the speedometer needle moves randomly.
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 acura rl. While driving approximately 30 MPH, the SRS warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the sensor in the passenger seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000. The VIN was not available.
