BMW x1 28I. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle defective air bag system. *smd the consumer stated a careless driver ran a stop sign and she and the other driver hit each perpendicularly at moderate to high speed. Substantial damage was done to both vehicles. The consumer stated she was driving 30 MPH, and none of the air bags deployed. The vehicle was declared totaled.
Recall notice for driver side airbag in 2016. Letter from BMW indicating final remedy available for replacement of airbag. Called BMW of fairfax service center 10/12/17 and told they would have to order the part and it would take 4-8 weeks to arrive. The letter says to do this asap but 4-8 wks before I can even schedule the replacement is not asap.
