What owners wrote
On 01/10/2010 at 2:45 a.m. We were awakened by a passer by who noticed our truck was on fire. By the time the fire department was able to put the fire out it had completely destroyed our truck, our car ,our grandsons truck and $66,000.00 damage to the house we were renting. We lost our vehicles and 90% of everything we own. It was determined to be the engine block heater in our 2002 chevy silverado 2500 hd. We have been in contact with general motors.
I have the 2002 silverado 2500hd with the 8.1l engine and I have random stalling while driving at any speed or even standing at a stop light. It has just started to not start from a cold start too. I brought it to the dealership and was told it was giving the crankshaft position sensor code as defective. There is already a recall on specific 8.1l for the 2001 silverado with the exact same symptoms.
