Speedometer gage in instrument cluster stops/sticks randomly. I need to start/stop the ignition to decrease the MPH reading in 5MPH decrements. Faulty stepper motor.

Reported at 60,000 miles, April 2008

My airbag light remains on, indicating that there is a problem. The dealer claims that the bag will either not deploy, or suddenly deploy for no reason unless I replace it. I was told this was not part of the recalls...but it is clearly a safety issue. I don't feel that I should pay for the replacement.
