2000 Hyundai Elantra transmission problems

This is my son's car. He had been stopped at a stop light and was proceeding to shift from 2nd to 3rd, he heard a grinding noise and the car felt like it had a flat tire. He put in the clutch and coasted to the nearby gas station. Smoke was coming out from underneath his car. When he looked, there was a trail of fluid and a puddle under his car. Car had to be towed -- needs whole new transmission (and vehicle has only 8,500 miles on it).

The passenger window will not roll down. The switch went out 2. Dealership replaced once. The horn was bad. The car doesn't want to shift right. Went through 3 transmissions. Dealership says it fine. It still doesn't want to shift right. It doesn't want to take gas. Want to get rid of car.
