Driving and sugar dropped I hit a tree. Side air bags deployed but front airbag did not. I hit the tree head on. 2007 jeep compass.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep compass 4x4. While driving approximately 55 MPH, the contact smelled plastic burning and then smoke appeared from the rear of the vehicle. Before she could stop the vehicle, it caught fire. The contact was able to exit the vehicle before it was destroyed. The cause of the failure was believed to be electrical. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 28,000.
It has come to our attention an investigation about jeep. We are thrifty car rental franchise company in costa rica, and we have filed several reports about an incident with a compass jeep to chrysler in costa rica and through their headquarters in the USA and none seems to explain consistently what happened. The car was running perfect and ok, with a total mileage about 28610 km ( 17881 miles) the driver stop because he saw smoke coming out from the engine. He put his family away but the car started on fire.
Jeep compass stalls after refueling in motion on highway, steering locks up when car stalls and makes jeep uncontrollable. Had jeep towed to dealer and they found a bad charcoal canister was "full of fuel" replaced canister drove for one week and refueled managed to go 1 mile and jeep stalled again at about 45 MPH . Got jeep stopped and restarted managed to get the last 1/2 mile home and it stalled again pulling in drive way and almost ran thru the front of my house before stopping.
As I wrote in previous comments, I have spent over $11,000 over this period of time. I have replaced the wheel hubs, tie rod ends, the front suspension and all rods concerning the rear. I have replaced the transmission at 98,000 miles costing me $3200. The transmission could not be repaired, the whole transmission had to be replaced. And yes I have 158,000 miles, but if you compare $11,000 just on repairs to this pile of crap. I have complained before, and nothing happens.
