Car jerks uncontrollably when proceeding from any stopped position.. The car jerks causing great potential for a fatal accident. It only happens on hotter days.. Ridiculous kia dealership in thornton, co wants me to only fill the tank up half way to avoid this problem, this car is under full warranty & was only 3 months of use before first reported problem. They call it "vapor lock" which sounds ridiculous.. It isn't vapor lock.
I have an '05 kia amanti. This car has a "sudden acceleration" causing the car to speed forward when applying the brakes. I have been in two rear-end collisions in the last year and have not been in an accident in over 30yrs prior. I have had the car taken to sentry kia to be repaired but, they just say, they cannot duplicate the problem - so there is no problem. I know differently. I am afraid to drive this car.
As I pulled up to park my car behind a parked car, my car surged and crashed into the back of the parked car. I was easing into the space at a very slow speed and actually had my foot on the brake. The motor suddenly revved up, I felt the surge, stood on the brake pedal, but was unable to control the car. Although damage was minimal, I was concerned about another occurrence driving the vehicle and had it towed into the dealership.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 kia amanti. The contact stated the vehicle would independtly decrease speed and would not go any faster then 15 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times who stated they needed to clean the wires. The wires were cleaned but the failure continued. The repair was done under warranty each time. The manufacturer was contacted who offered no assistance. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the failure mileage was 83,000.
I absolutely love this car. However, I am afraid to drive it most of the time do to intermittent problems with acceleration. At times, when I step down on the gas nothing happens, then all of a sudden the car takes off like a rabbit. On a trip to south dakota, after using the blinker to change lanes, the blinkers went crazy, both on at the same time, then from one side to the other, I couldn't get them to stop and the ESC light was flashing.
