I own a 2006 mitsubishi endeavor which was purchased 2 months ago. On june 1st I was running an errand, got out of my vehicle ran into the mall only to come out 5 minutes later to find my car had rolled into the back of a 1994 corvette. When approached by the corvette owner he proceeded to tell me I left my car in drive. I responded by saying, no, I have my keys in my hand, that's not possible. When I looked at the gearshift it was in drive.
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 mitsubishi endeavor. Immediately after parking, the vehicle rolled back very quickly. The contact attempted to get back in the vehicle; however, it was traveling too fast. The vehicle struck a parked vehicle. When the vehicle finally stopped, she noticed that the gear was still in drive. She believes this to be a safety issue because she should not have been able to remove the key from the ignition without the vehicle being placed in the park position. The speed was unknown.
The initial issue is the seat belts in the rear fail to return and/or do not come out. The more recent issue is the rear tailgate which is now failing to open unless done mechanically by climbing over back seat and attempting to access switch internally. We are being told by our mechanic that it is an issue with the internal computer
Originally the liftgate would not open only the glass top would open. A common issue according to several mitsubishi endeavor owner forums for endeavors from 2004 to 2008. Recently both liftgate and glass would not open at all unless I used the manual release located on the inside part of the liftgate. However, while driving recently the liftgate and or glass top actuated itself causing the liftgate to unlock on its own and open.
