What owners wrote
Ongoing problem with engine stalling while traveling vehicle been in/out of dealer shop on three occasions, and problem cannot be duplicated or corrected. This problem has caused an accident. Fuel pump was replaced and dealer stated an exhaust leak causing carbon build up in o2 sensors were causing stalling, however after repairs vehicle still stalls. Consumer can smell a gas odor outside vehicle. Transmission leaks, dealer found pan had a hole, dealer replaced pan and gasket. *slc
As has happened to close to 100% of quest/mercury villager owners, I have cracked manifolds, missing manifold studs, and several broken manifold studs. This results in poor starts, exhaust leaks, and a noticeable "clacking" (exhaust leak) upon acceleration. My vehicle has 118k miles. I understand the labor for a complete fix can run over $1000, while parts run under $100.
