Vehicle caught on fire and was totaled. There was a recall, but GM refused responsibility. Almost two years after the fire the consumer received a recall in reference to nylon tuning used in the fuel rail which could crack and result in a fuel leak or fire. The consumer would like a replacement vehicle.
Five days after the purchase radiator cracked, car overheated, took to dealership, while speaking with the service manager, I explained the abs/traction control light came on and stays on as of 3rd day after purchase and that the engine was surging and back fire type noise from under the hood during acceleration and the car had no power. The front right fog light was not working the day of purchase and to replace it, I was charged for the replacement bulb.
Tried starting car. Would not turn over. Car backfired under hood. Restarted car and parked it in garage. Car had an unusual odor. 35 minutes later, car was found on fire, resulting in a total loss to vehicle and damage to garage. Fire department stated fire started in/near area of fuel injector. No sure of oem. Consumer is requesting compensation.
Gas was leaking from under the vehicle. The dealer replaced the fuel rail three years ago and the vehicle wais not in the recall 04-v-110000.
