What owners wrote

I own a 2008 sti and have just under 6,000 miles on the odometer. I bought the vehicle new with just under 200 miles on it in december of 2008. In january of 2009, I began to see white smoke coming out of my exhaust on startup. I had just over 1,200 miles at the time. My engine failed suffered a failure at just under 2,000 miles. Subaru replaced the engine under warranty and sent me on my way.

Reported at 1,200 miles, January 2009

Vehicle began smoking on cold start up. Compression test was performed and cyl 4 resulted in ~50-70 psi, which is less than half the subaru specification. Shortbock had to be replaced under warranty at approx 20,000 miles. No root cause for the failure was determined.

Reported at 20,000 miles, December 2011
