What owners wrote

We recently purchased a new 2010 toyota tacoma. On its first long distance trip, with less that 2000 miles on the vehicle and barely a month old, the rear factory installed high performance bilstein rear shocks got so hot that the oil sprayed out of the top seal melting the boots and getting them so hot the plastic material dripped down and coated the connection to the rear axle. The shocks completely failed at that point.

I recently purchased a used 2010 toyota tacoma. I was informed that there is a safety recall (NHTSA reference id 14v604) on the rear leaf springs. The recall was issued in september 2014 and toyota has still not developed a remedy for this safety issue. Does the NHTSA have any recourse to compel toyota to develop a remedy? The recall has been issued for more than one year and there is still no remedy.
