What owners wrote

Turning left from turn lane with green light. Oncoming traffic with ample space to make the left turn. Started to accelerate into intersection and auto transmission (DSG) shifted to a lower gear causing sluggish acceleration. I pushed the accelerator to the floor to get more power and to avoid the approaching traffic. By that time, it was too late and a collision occurred, totaling both vehicles.

Reported at 4,000 miles, September 2009 Crash

The DSG transmission mechatronic unit is faulting causing rough shifts between 1st and 2nd gears. Sometimes it takes a long time for the control unit to choose a gear and when it does, there is a hard hammering bang when it finally goes into gear. VW is replacing the unit - however, it will take two to three weeks to get the VIN coded unit.
