What owners wrote
A few complaints as filed, shortened and with personal details removed. The first ones are among the most serious reports for this model year; the rest are typical.
My rear subframe totally seperated from my vechicle costing 1600 to fix. I was not in an accident, it broke on its own. BMW informed me that this is "normal wear and tear," but I think its a recall issue. There are a number of people with these problems. Also my moonroof bent the tracks, and now needs total replacement. BMW also has a number of complaints regarding window regulators.
My 2000 328ci BMW 5 spd. The subframe began to tear in 2004. There were no accidents but I've noticed various complaints on the internet that this is a defect and could lead to serious problems while driving.
The rear subframe on the 1999-2006 :BMW 3 series cars can tear or rip, causing the rear end to fall out of the car. My 2000 328ci shows evidence of this frame cracking.
