The contact also stated that there was a burning odor emitting from the vents and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
While changing lanes...my steering wheel locked and vehicle jumped to the right lane. I restarted the car and the wheel was free. I took it in for repairs and was told I must replace the entire steering rack, pump and hoses for a cost of $ 2,489.00. The repair facility told me this is very common in srx and that he just did the same thing on another 05 srx! Scary and costly!
