What owners wrote
After contacting GM about several incidents of brake failure I was told they were investigating this problem but my vehicle was out of warranty and nothing would be done by GM. No further explanation followed. The braking problem on this vehicle has resulted in one crash w/injuries and three other occurrences were a crash was narrowly averted. Contact with others across the us indicates the ABS has a problem known by GM, but GM refuses to make reparation.
The anti-lock brakes on my 1995 chevy tahoe are activating spuriously at slow speeds when braking. This typically happens as I approach a traffic light or stop sign or when parking in a lot. This activation causes an increased stopping distance. It has not resulted in an accident at this time, but I could see how it could. From some online research it appears that it is a known problem with rusting of the speed sensors.
