A few complaints as filed, shortened and with personal details removed. The first ones are among the most serious reports for this model year; the rest are typical.
During a left side impact collision with a semi truck the left seatbelt of the middle row seat failed to lock. It caused my backseat passenger to be thrown from side to side in the van because of the seatbelt releasing too much slack upon collision. She sustained multiple injuries and was unable to walk for 6 weeks.
I was in an automobile accident 11/02/06. I was the driver and my father was a passanger. We were rearended and my fathers seat belt didn't catch. My seat belt caught.
My mother was involved in an accident, driving at 23 MPH in a chrysler minivan. She hit a telephone pole head on. The air bags deployed, although they did not touch my mother, she was wearing her seatbelt. When the knee airbag deployed however, the door covering it was what hit my mother in both her shins with the force of the air bag behind it! Although it did not break any bones, the impact caused extensive bleeding and edema under the skin.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge grand caravan. Every 5-10 minutes of driving the air bag light would illuminate on the instrument control panel. She believes that the air bag sensor has failed, which in a situation that warrants, may cause the air bags not to deploy. The dealer nor the manufacturer has been contacted. The current mileage was 93,000 . The failure mileage was 90,000.
Airbag warning light lit. Looked up on NHTSA website, chrysler issued a"safety improvement campaign" copy enclosed. I took my van to the dealer to have it fixed plus a new key and a recall notice for a fuel/stalling problem. I was informed that the airbag problem was not covered because of the VIN number. The van was purchased in mass. And I purchased it in rhode island. I donot think I should have to pay 216.61 dollars to have this fixed. Thank you
