What owners wrote
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 dodge durango. The contact was sitting idle at a traffic stop when a fire ignited from the front passenger side of the vehicle and smoke was emitting from the hood. The police and fire were dispatched and a fire report was available. The vehicle was then towed to a repair shop where the contact was advised that the fire was caused by faulty fuel lines. The vehicle was deemed as destroyed. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 140,000.
One several occasions (more than 3) the vehicle has shut off completely in the roadway with no warning. The fuel seems to be in a vapor lock or the fuel pump is not pumping correctly. There is currently a recall on the 2005 durango for the exact same problem. I feel this may be the same issue related to my vehicle. The mechanic who evaluated the vehicle stated this was the problem and these vehicles were known to have this problem throughout several years.
