While driving at 40 MPH had a direct frontal impact, driver and passenger airbags did not deploy, which did not protect the occupants in the crash. Manufacturer inspected the vehicle, and airbags would not deploy because vehicle decelerated.
On 08-21-01 our truck was in for repairs to the steering column. At that time we asked the service representative if there was a recall on the driver side air bag and they said no. I saw on the news about 2 months ago that there was a recall on the 2000 dodge ram quad cab. The ABS did not work because we slid about 70 to 100 feet. We did go to the place the truck was purchased and told them that the air bags nor did the ABS work they had no comment.
Dt: the consumer was involved in an accident and the air bag on driver's side did not deploy. She was going about 20 MPH and hit a telephone pole. The caller said the air bags were working. The caller was injured when she hit the steering wheel. Police were called and a report was taken. . Dealer and manufacturer have not been contacted yet. Vehicle was totaled.
Engine spark knock as a result of a bad plenum gasket. Dodge apparently will not fix, unless I come up with $450-$500. I bought the truck used and apparently there was a service bulletin for that particular problem, but I had no idea that it neede to be done. By the way, I bought the truck in jan of 2003 and the bulletin was released in feb of 2003. I would have thought that I would have received a notice in the mail, but did not and now I'm on the hook for the repair.
