Transfer case developed a leak due to metallic plug was not sealed properly and allowed oil to leak out. This could lead to a failure of the transfer case, resulting in the lock up of the drivetrain and possible loss of control.
I own a 1992 eagle talon tsi AWD. I have learned of a transfer case recall on this car. Mainly because mine just blew up. This car has already been in for the recall, but chrysler (dealership, hudson, wi 54016) has said to me that at the time there was no sign of a problem. There is now a problem. I called chrysler and they said it was up to the dealership weather or not to replace for free. I have been reading and have found places to say "the recall is for the lifetime of the car". Is this true?
Tl*the contact owns a 1992 eagle talon. The contact received a safety recall notice regarding the automatic transmission. She notified the dealer and they confirmed that her VIN was included in the recall, however, they would not perform the repair. They stated that the vehicle was too old and was no longer a ford product. Three weeks after she learned of the recall, the vehicle had 151,000 miles. While driving 5 MPH, the contact heard a clunking noise and the rear engine locked up.
