What owners wrote

The backup camera on my vehicle has been malfunctioning/inoperable for 2 years. When it does work it shows the view backwards. The dealership, who I have come to distrust, said they could fix it for around $500.00. I called fomoco and told them my problem with the vehicle. They told me it's not a safety hazard, therefore they cannot do anything. To me when the camera works(seldomly) and shows the image backwards, that is a safety issue. Please advise.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera displayed a distorted image in the opposite direction of the location. Additionally, the rear-view camera also displayed lines across the image. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the rear-view camera needed to be replaced. The manufacturer advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline.
