2017 Ford F-250 SD latches & locks problems

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 ford f-250. When the contact attempted to close the front driver side door from outside the vehicle, the door would not close. When the contact attempted to close the door from inside the vehicle, the door would not close or latch properly. The contact had to make a few attempts before the door would latch. In addition, "door ajar" illuminated on the instrument panel once the door was closed. The dealer stated over the phone that the door locking mechanism may be fractured.
