What owners wrote

2003 f550 4x4 60,000 miles, fuel tank has 4 stress cracks, leaks over 2 gallons diesel fuel daily. Fault caused by manufacturing defect, ford states no recall. Tank was soldered, would not hold, replaced with new tank. Defective tank available.

Reported at 60,000 miles, April 2005

Engine failed and vehicle stopped working. The culprit was the ford fuel tank that had delaminated. The tank had to be replaced. The cost: $2223.41. Additionally, there was a loss of revenue as this vehicle is used for production purposes. Ford denied responsibility for any defects of their fuel tanks. With no other choice, we had to pay for the repairs out of pocket. This is a safety issue, as these vehicles are used for commercial usage daily.

Reported at 57,493 miles, October 2009
