What owners wrote

Last year just after a month of ownership I was stopped at traffic light. The engine began to race and then slammed so hard the brakes squealed. It felt like I had been rear ended. I put the vehicle into park, shut it off and got out to inspect my vehicle. The person behind me was not close enough to come in contact with my vehicle and there was no damage. My passengers and myself were shocked by the force. I associated this event with the vehicle being brand new and maybe something just got stuck.

Reported at 500 miles, September 2013

When I turn off the engine, the electronics (lights, radio) in the car stay on and the doors won't lock if I wanted to leave the vehicle. I've found that, while in park, I need to pull the gearshift hard towards the steering wheel for the car to "register" that I'm actually in park. I've read online that mazda recognizes this is a very common problem, but won't do a recall on it. This issue has been happening for well over a year now. I'm adding an arbitrary date below.
