Tl* the contact owns a 2006 mercury marina hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the braking system failed with the illumination of the ABS and brake warning lights. As a result, the contact crashed into a stop sign. The were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 267,000.
In stop and go city traffic going about 1 mile an hour I braked but my mariner didn't and I slowly rear ended another vehicle. My ABS sensor went on then off eventually an ABS regen light came on and I had no brakes so I drove ,very carefully, 83 miles to my ford dealer ( with no brakes) to find out that I needed a complete replacement of my ABS hybrid braking module. $3900!
The driver information display showed: brake system failure. Took vehicle to dealership, and was told that the item was not covered by extended warranty that I purchased through dealer. The item that was found to cause the code is the wiring that controls the hydraulic pump for the ABS brake system. Although the brakes still function, but do not protect from locking up in an event of emergency braking.
Car would not move at all after coming to a stop when making a left turn in the middle of an busy intersection. With the car idling at 1000 rpms, it would not move when I pressed the accelerator. I had to shut the vehicle down completely, restart it, and then it would move forward only if I pressed the accelerator immediately after restarting. If traffic did not allow immediate travel, the car would not move forward as previously described.
I was backing out of my driveway turning onto the road, when my power steering went out. I took my 2006 mercury mariner hybrid to the ford dealership. At first they thought there was a recall on it. It was the wrong year. It seems to me that ford would include 2006 if it is the same problem. Nobody will buy this model because of this issue. Come on ford your problems are my problem. This is not right!
