Tl* the contact owns a 2011 mercury milan. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the power steering failed and the service power steering now warning message displayed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 50,000.
Due to the recall of the steering gear we had it repaired oct 10 2018. The vehicle had 94,430 miles and qualified under the recall. The car has been driven 15,311 miles and the same part needs to be replaced. When I asked if the part has a warranty I was told 1 yr or 12,000 miles,so the repair would be 1800.00. I asked if the same repair was done what kind of warranty would there be. 2 yrs or 50,000 miles. My concern is why the recall part is only warranted for 12,000 and the new repair warranty is 50,000.
