What owners wrote

A few complaints as filed, shortened and with personal details removed. The first ones are among the most serious reports for this model year; the rest are typical.

Engine randomly stalls (so random I cannot recreate) at any altitude but more so at high altitude by simply pulling in the clutch lever. This condition is obviously a safety hazard and could involve rear end collisions or other. BMW has not responded to dealership or myself with a fix for this condition.

Reported at 600 miles, April 2009

I ride a BMW k1300gt motorcycle. My engine stalled at low speed...almost as if I had accidentally hit the engine kill switch. This has happened twice.

Reported at 400 miles, May 2009

2009 BMW k1300gt engine stalling during normal operation. While driving around 40 miles per hour and down shifting from 4th gear to 3rd gear, the engine stalled for no apparent reason. Engine started back up after stall. Engine stalling during movement can be hazardous under many riding conditions.

Reported at 600 miles, July 2009

2009 BMW k 1300 gt motorcycle stalls intermittently when clutch is disengaged at slow speeds. Serious safety hazard.

Reported at 1,500 miles, October 2009

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 BMW k1 300 gt. While driving 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The motorcycle was repaired three times per NHTSA campaign number: 09v471000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
