The contact was unsure if a recall letter was received. The first three times the roof flew off, the dealership replaced the roof. During one incident, there was an accident, however the vehicle was able to get out of the way and no one was injured. There was not a police report filed.

Reported at 11,000 miles, August 2005 Crash

While driving at 68 MPH on a two highway, the roof section from a 2005 chevrolet corvette separated from the vehicle and went airborne. Prevailing winds blue the panel to the side of the road, keeping out of following or oncoming traffic flow which could have caused a serious accident. The 102 degree temperature appears to have caused the failure of the adhesive holding the roof panel to the roof frame. Vehicle was recalled in 2006 for the same problem and the roof was replaced at that time.

Reported at 48,000 miles, August 2008
