I just purchased the automobile from a chevrolet dealer with 17,200 miles and I have not been able to fill the take up with gas. Twice I have tried to fill the tank, but the gas keeps turning off at the pump. When I return home and park the car in the garage, you can smell gas after awhile and it linkers for a few days. I was looking for a recall notice on this issue because I read in other places on the internet similar issues.
I noticed yesterday when entering my pole barn, a strong fuel odor..upon extensive smelling, I located a fuel leak when I had the car on my lift, the fuel tank on the drivers side has gasoline running down the plastic tank. I have modine heaters in this bldg, so I lowered the car and pushed it outside with help. I bought the car pre owned from berstrom chevy in oshkosh, and they never gave me some letter that I learned was sent to all owners about this problem, just short of a recall.
