The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The failure caused the brakes to lock up. The contact and the child seated in rear in a car seat sustained whiplash and seat belt bruises. The failure mileage was 50,500.
I was in a parking lot and parking at an EV charger. As I attempted the brake, the vehicle did not respond, so I tried to pump the brake and still no response. It eventually made contact with the barrier in front of the charger. It caused some damage to the front end and several lights are lit up on the dash that aren't normally lit. This took place over the course of maybe 2-3 seconds, so minimal time to react to the brakes failing.
After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the car will sometimes signal a left turn for 3 blinks. I believe this is because the turn signal stalk 'bounces' down to the left turn signal area when returning back to normal position from a right turn. This is a safety issue because the car is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended. This could cause confusion to other drivers on the road. This does not appear to be unique to my vehicle.
