NHTSA campaign # 02v178000: my 2000, k1500, chevrolet suburban was hit head on by a speeding 2003 hyundai tiburon gt. Both vehicles suffered significant damage and had to be towed away. The bumper and grill were pushed back into the radiator and oil cooler of the suburban. The bumper folder into a v shape at the license plate. No air bags on the suburban deployed. The hyundai air bags deployed. I have been told by connell chevrolet that the referenced recall did not apply to my suburban.
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet suburban 1500. While driving approximately 55 MPH, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the pedal extended to the floorboard without warning. The contact swerved in order to avoid crashing into another vehicle. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal and it returned to normal. The contact was able to drive the vehicle without incident. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder was faulty and needed to be replaced.
Ebcm failure - ABS pump runs continuously and will run down the battery. 2nd time ebcm has failed on this vehicle. Called 800 number for chevy - they would not help me. Dealer wants $1100 to fix.
When approaching an intersection the vehicle in front of me stopped quickly. I applied my brakes quickly to stop and the brake pedal almost reached the floor board. I could feel my foot jumping on the pedal as my truck was attempting to stop. A week after the incident my ABS light came on and has remained on and the dealership states this is an ongoing issue. I understand GM has much going on right now but they need to address and resolve all these issues before family's loose loved ones.
