What owners wrote
Leaves/pine needles/dust, etc. Collects in air intake; resistor on blower motor ignites material. When material reaches high enough to contact resistor. No way for average consumer to clean out material. Dealer in houston had to remove parts, including a metal cowling to clean out material. Heavy smoke filled passenger compartment with my wife, baby and I inside. I smelled burning leaves about 3 minutes after starting car, but in houston, the smell is not uncommon. After about 5 minutes, I noticed smoke.
I bought my 1994 ford explorer (4wd) in may of 1999 and have had numerous problems since. The vehicle had approximately 50900 miles when I bought it. It now has 89000 miles. I have replaced the brake rotors twice and replaced the brake pads three times. The last time I completed brake work was because the left front caliper overheated and failed. I then replaced both front calipers. There is a bad vibration problem at speeds of 55-67 MPH.
