2018 Honda Clarity Plug-IN Hybrid fuel system problems

Here is an update to the issue I had raised with your office in March-April 2026: Honda Van Nuys performed the 35,000-mile routine maintenance on the Honda Clarity on February 24, 2026. At that time, Honda Van Nuys recommended (and I approved) that they clean the throttle. The odometer read 33,882 miles. I drove the car 337 miles when the unintended acceleration accident occurred on March 18, 2026 – 2.5 weeks after Honda Van Nuys cleaned the throttle. The airbags deployed.

Vehicle range calculation is incorrect for highway/long distance travel. The range estimate shows off even when fuel level is very low. For example, when starting a trip it might show 1000 miles range. On the highway, this will count down very quickly, 1 mile driven might count down 4 miles of estimated range. The problem is that this range estimate doesn't update quickly enough to reflect that the plug-in hybrid vehicle is driving on a long trip instead of around town and the range won't be near as much since it…
