March 2006

Brake failure on 2006 infiniti qx56. One time. Situation dangerous, driver avoiding pedestrians and vehicles on a busy thoroughfare.

Reported at 43,834 miles, January 2010

Multiple/numerous incidents: while at both high speeds (highway) and local driving the dashboard flicker and the ABS light comes on followed by loss of braking, groaning/grinding noise and inability to control the vehicle speed. This has occurred numerous (>20) times and the only resolution is to pull over, stop the vehicle and then restart the ignition to reset the braking system. In addition, we have lost brakes twice that resulted in the vehicle travelling through a red light at a 4 way intersection.

The brakes get hard and cannot stop quickly. It grinds and have to park and cut the engine off for a few minutes then it works again. Almost caused a fatal accident. This is definitely a factory defect due to lots of owners on the net having the exact same problem. There is no indication when it about to happen. It happened at least three times since buying this vehicle used for my wife. This problem happens also with the nissan armada. Contacted the manufacturer and they don't seem concerned at all.
