What owners wrote

On a recent day-long trip, the electric seat heater on driver's side overheated, causing a 4" diameter badly blistered burn on the back of my leg. A recall for this defect was issued on 4/7/2009 for 2001-2004 models (NHTSA campaign number: 09v117000 ), but I was not able to find one for the 1999 grand cherokee limited. The local dealer (lithia in grants pass, or) requested I submit this so he can make the proper repairs free of charge as specified for the 2001-2004 models.

I have a jeep grand cherokee. The heating unit has failed. It only blows cold air. I went online to check if it was something that I could fix myself because I called two dealers and they all want to charge $1200 or more to fix it. To my surprise, I found several forums and user groups online whereby people have complained of the same failure in their jeep cherokees from year 99-04 models. What they all describe is the exact same problem and experience we had with our jeep.
