My husband was driving his 2005 lincoln town car down a private driveway of our country residence. His vehicle became stuck by the side of the driveway. While attempting to dislodge his vehicle from the side of the driveway, the automatic transmission fluid in his vehicle overheated. The overheated transmission fluid forced the transmission fluid dipstick out of the transmission fill tube far enough to allow the transmission fluid to overflow onto the engine of the vehicle where the transmission fluid caught on…
On 3/29/08 the vehicle was involved in a side impact collision which totaled the vehicle. The vehicle was equipped with side airbags which did not deploy.
I was parking at applebees when the car bolted and slammed in the wall. I tried to put it in park but went in reverse also at hgh speed. Finally I was able to brake and go to park. I'm concerned. I did not have my foot on the acceleator. I would like someone to check my car out.
Vehicle dashboard "air bag" light came on! Took to lincoln dealer who stated it looked liked the passenger seat pretensioner needed to be replaced. Stated that most likely the driver side would also ultimately need replacement as well, as it is a continual and on-going problem! Cost to repair one side approx. $750.00 after discount. This car has always been serviced by lincoln, never in an accident, and only has 35,500 miles on it.
The car was being driven in a parking lot at 5-10 miles/hour. It rapidly accelerated and was stopped only after both feet on brake and emergency brake used. The skid marks are 32' long. There were many witnesses because it was in a church parking lot at the end of sunday service.
