While driving home with my A/C on, my 2007 mazda cx7 began making a terrible whining & grinding sound, followed by billows of smoke coming from under the hood. I immediately pulled off the road, turned off the car and opened the hood, which continued to smoke for some time and there was a smell of burning rubber. I burned my hand in the process. The car was deemed unsafe and undriveable and had to be towed back to the nearest mazda dealer where we had also purchased the vehicle.
Was rear-ended at a fast speed by an 18 tractor trailer. No air bags deployed. I was slung with such force again the steering wheel that the back of my seat fell backwards. My sons seatbelt came loose and by the grace of god I had enough strengths to grab him and pull him back to keep from going through the windshield. I have the most damage because I had to get loose from my seat belt. Neither airbags deployed which in the kind force we were hit with and on top of that the seat belt coming out.
While driving on the freeway at about 70 MPH, my 2007 mazda cx7 randomly lost power. I was able to pull to the side of the freeway even though the steering wheel became very hard to turn. I was very lucky there were not many cars around me. The motor would only rev when I pushed the gas pedal. I had the car towed to a mechanic. The next day I was told that my motor and turbo needed to be replaced. The repairs would total to about $8,000. I already owe $15,000 on the auto loan.
