2019 Ram 2500 drivetrain & axles problems

Tl* the contact owned a 2019 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving smoke suddenly came from under the hood and the vehicle immediately stopped accelerating. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher and water. The contact stated that her and her spouse was burnt on their hands and later seeked medical attention for smoke inhalation. The fire department along with the police department contacted however, the fire was already extinguished by time they reached the scene.

Transmission intermittently drops out of gear. Most of the time this is when in reverse and moving backwards. All of a sudden you realize you are no longer moving backwards and in some cases rolling forward. On one occasion is has popped out of gear and stopped moving forward leaving me half out of a parallel parked space with oncoming traffic. These incidents occur approximately once a month. In every case on failure when you look at the gear selector it has a flashing light.
