The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 38 mph and making a right turn into traffic the warning messages "brake assist, ABS, Stabilitrak, steering lost" had suddenly displayed and when pressing the brake pedal the vehicle did not stop and crashed into the rear of a second vehicle which crashed into the rear of a third vehicle.
When in motion the trucks power steering stops working at random speeds making the vehicle difficult to steer. Took the vehicle to a GM dealer for diagnostic and repair. The technician explained that the code DTC-c0545 steering wheel torque sensor is faulty. Cost of repair $2100.00 I asked for the faulty parts and was informed I would need to pay for them as the dealer is required to send them back to GM because they are faulty. The vehicle has about 52,000 miles on it.
While under pre owned warranty trucks power steering would not work when vehicle was first started. Only activating after restarting vehicle multiple times. Took it in to john l sullivan in roseville they said they could not diagnose the problem and it had nothing to do with a recall. By this time it had happened twice. I continued to drive vehicle until the power steering went out on I 80 in heavy traffic on my way to work at the dmv. My first week of employment with the state.
