Dt*: the consumer stated while driving at 35 MPH another vehicle came across the median and crashed into the vehicle. Upon impact the driver's seat belt failed to lock and both frontal airbags failed to deploy. The consumer sustained injuries to the neck and back. There was a fire coming from the engine area after impact. The fire department cut all the electrical wires to extinguish the fire. Although the police responded no report were filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealership were it has not been inspected.
As our son was driving our 2001 s-10 ext cab pickup home, he came into a curve and the truck had no braking power. He said he heard a grinding noise in the vehicle and had no brakes. He went off the curve and hit a tree. The truck was totaled. My son as well as his two friends were taken to area hospitals luckily, no one was seriously injured as they had their seat belts on and were going the speed limit. I would hate to say what would have happened if they would have been traveling at a faster rate of speed.
The straps that hold the tail gate in position broke that hold the tailgate in a level position. One broke first and I called GM to see if there was a recall on my truck and was informed no they were thinking about extending it. My son was almost hurt when this happened.
Tl*- the contact stated thatthe 2001 chevrolet s10 should be able to use flexible fuel. When the vehicle was taken to the dealership they advised contact not to use e85 fuel. The dealership refused to inform the contact of the consequences of using e85 fuel. The dealership advised contact if e85 fuel were used they would refuse to repair vehicle. The vehicle currently had 100000 miles. There had been no failures to date.
